Dragon Boat Race Legend.

A dragon boat race is a combination of dragons,spirits, loyalty, honor,and food. It is made on the fifth day of the fifth month of Chinese lunar calendar.It involve a traditional paddled long boats made of wood in various designs and sizes.Dragonboats are the bases of the team paddling sport of dragon boat racing.This competition has taken place anually for more than twenty centuries as part of religious ceremonies and folk customs.
The legend goes with Qu Yuan, an advisor in the court of Chu during the warring states period of ancient China who was exiled by the emperor for perceived disloyalty.Qu Yan was innocent,but the emperor did not believe on him and sent Qu Yan off the wilderness.Unfortunately,Qu Yan was right about a trheat presented by the Quin, which soon captured and imprisioned the Chu emperor.Upon hearing the tragic news, Qu Yan drowned himself in to the Miluo river in Hunan Province, and he became a water spirit after his death.
